2015 Challenge Trophy Winners

Taylors Wines has won the 2015 Graphix Labels and Packaging Great Australian Shiraz Challenge Trophy with its 2014 Clare Valley Shiraz and in the 21st anniversary of the prestigious event, has also won the Seguin Moreau, best Shiraz under $25.00 Trophy, only the second wine company to do so.
One of Australia’s most prestigious and valuable wine awards, this year’s event attracted 376 entries from over 60 regions, Taylors winning wine, produced from Clare Valley fruit, triumphed over strong competition particularly from McLaren Vale and the Barossa Valley.
The winners were announced by Rob Hicks, well known Australian wine industry identity, on Tuesday evening, 27 October, at the gala awards presentation dinner held at The Prince in St Kilda.
Paul Hawkes, Taylors Wines Sales Operations Manager, Vic/Tas accepted the awards on behalf of Taylors Wines Managing Director and Winemaker, Mitchell Taylor.
The 21st Great Australian Shiraz Challenge received 375 entries with a total of 272 medals awarded including 2 Trophys, 20 Gold, 74 Silver and 178 Bronze medals; further highlighting the extremely high overall quality of entries with over 70% receiving an award.
The 2015 Judging panel consisted of Gary Baldwin (Chairman), Simon Osicka, Jeni Port, Victor Nash, Jen Pfeiffer and Darren Rathbone.
Entry criteria requires that all wines entered must be commercially available, labelled and on sale in at least one retail, cellar door or mail order “outlet”. The wines can be labelled Shiraz / Syrah and no vintage restrictions apply.
